There was a time when AdWords was less complicated than it is now. It was always more complicated
than Yahoo's Overture but now with the recent changes at Google, it is very easy to lose a lot
of money if you don't understand the AdWords system. For a while your keywords were "on hold" or
"on trial" before they have even seen one impression. But now,
Google has changed that to a simple, but mostly more costly,
approach to keywords. They are either on or off, depending
on how much you want to pay per click.
Pay-per-click is more cost effective.
A well run pay-per-click campaign is cheaper than plying the search engines with cash on an ongoing basis just to maintain your position.
